Woodcock by E. Allen of York

Woodcock (Scolopax rusticola) by Edward Allen of York. A nice touch being the faux worm emerging from the groundwork. Typically bright foliage preferred by Allen. In fact overall, this case is so bright it looks as if it was made a few days ago, but the provenance and build up of compacted dust around the beading and the rusted pins in the bird's feet all suggest that both the case and the mount are absolutely original. Nice trade label to the rear of the case. Size 18" x 13" x 6 ". <click image to enlarge>
